Herrick Park Renovation

Herrick Park Phase 1A Renovation

We are so excited to have completed phase 1A of the Herrick Park Renovation project just before the 2023 summer season began. It has been six months since the completion of the Herrick Park renovations. Since then, we have seen a massive increase in foot traffic in the park due to the brand new ADA-compliant paths surrounding the park and the creation of new sidewalks connecting Reutershan and the Long-Term Parking Lot, making it easier than ever for patrons to access the park!

We built a new tennis area with three tennis courts complete with sports lighting, with many patrons taking advantage of early morning or late night matches. We have also completely renovated the softball fields with state-of-the-art dugouts, just in time for the famous Artists vs. Writers game every August. While fantastic additions added to summer foot traffic in the park, John M. Marshall Elementary School and East Hampton Middle School have taken full advantage of the improved conditions of the park.

At a ceremonial groundbreaking for the Herrick Park renovations on March 17, 2023, Chairman and CEO Bradford Billet of the East Hampton Village Foundation presented the Village of East Hampton with a check for over 1 million dollars for the renovation of Herrick Park.

Enhancing Community Safety – Flock Camera System

East Hampton has enhanced its readiness. This year, thanks to full funding by the East Hampton Village Foundation, The Village engaged Flock Safety to implement. This state-of-the-art system creates a virtual security ring by strategically placing LPRs at key access points. It provides real-time alerts to law enforcement when vehicles associated with national crime databases enter the Village, greatly improving our ability to prevent, respond to, and solve crimes. Our police can also track wanted vehicles beyond the Village using the extensive Flock network, which integrates thousands of cameras across the United States. This technology empowers our officers with critical, real-time intelligence, reinforcing our collective mission to ensure a safer community.

New Mass Notification System – Keeping East Hampton Informed & Prepared

In another significant step forward, the East Hampton Village Foundation Police Fire EMS Council has partnered with Regroup to launch a new mass notification system. This platform will provide timely updates through phone calls, text messages, and emails, ensuring that residents, businesses, and visitors stay informed during emergencies. This system will deliver real-time notifications when they matter most, from severe weather alerts to road closures and public safety incidents, this initiative further strengthens our emergency preparedness and community resilience.

Looking Ahead – Our Continued Commitment to Public Safety

As we move forward, our vision remains ambitious, and our dedication to improving public safety is unwavering. We are actively working to secure funding for several critical emergency response initiatives. These investments will not only enhance emergency response capabilities but also ensure that our first responders have the tools they need to protect and serve our community effectively.
